everyone desires love

everyone

a concept I’m just now grasping onto but have always known

seeing friends and family members spend year over year on their own

running from commitment to infatuation

from grounding to upheaval

and from love to lose

and as I watch them run from one heartbreak to the next

i see the pieces fall

i see the shattered heart within

and the pain therein

…

but I know now

nevertheless

what they are chasing is love

somehow in the masses of code names and one night stands

there is this hope

this unyielding hope

that one

that special one will pull them out from the dark

and unite them with the love they have always sought

to the true love that simply is

and always will be

enough
